Adolf Khan’s Father, Freedom Fighter Abdus Shahid Khan, Honored with State Funeral

Ahmed Azam (Dhaka, August 30): Abdus Shahid Khan Sentu, a revered freedom fighter and former government official, and father of renowned fashion choreographer Adolf Khan, was laid to rest at Azimpur Graveyard with full state honors. The government paid tribute to his lifelong service to the nation by presenting a ceremonial Guard of Honour prior to the burial.
Khan’s legacy spans from his courageous role in the 1971 Liberation War to decades of dedicated service in public administration. His unwavering commitment to justice, integrity, and national development earned him deep respect across the country.
The funeral prayer (janazah), held at Azimpur, drew a large gathering of mourners from various sectors—including political leaders, cultural figures, and members of civil society—who came to offer prayers and express condolences to the bereaved family.
Speaking to the media, Adolf Khan reflected on his father’s life: “He was more than a freedom fighter—he was a man of principle, compassion, and relentless dedication to the people of Bangladesh. His legacy will continue to inspire us.”
