‘Folk Fest’ to return in January

The rumors are true. The popular ‘Folk Fest’ is coming back. The organizers have confirmed that and announced the date and venue.

‘Dhaka International Folk Fest’ has been held 5 consecutive times at Dhaka’s Army Stadium till 2019 containing global folk songs. In 2020, this biggest folk song festival of the subcontinent was no longer held due to the pandemic and later due to security and safety concerns.

Executive Creative Director Tanveer Hossain told the media on behalf of the organizing company Sun Communications, “For the past five years, we have faced many questions from the interested audience. There was no end of interest about why folk fest is not happening. Finally, I would like to tell them that the 6th edition of Folk Fest will be held at the Army Stadium in January.”

He also said, “We were prepared. But the matter was not mentioned till now as the permission of the Army Stadium was not received. I am now announcing the date as I have recently received the permission. The 6th edition of Folk Fest is being held on January 23-25. This is final.”

Asia’s largest folk music event ‘Dhaka International Folk Fest’ was held from 2015 to 2019 under the initiative of Sun Foundation to spread the melody of folk songs to the world.
