Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has seized all bank accounts of former national cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan.

BFIU confirmed this information to reporters on Wednesday (November 06) night.

On October 2, the agency summoned the bank account information of Shakib, his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir and their business establishments to investigate manipulation and financial irregularities in the capital market. After the investigation, all his bank accounts were seized by BFIU on the orders of the government.

Capital market regulator Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) fined Sakib Tk 50 lakh on September 24 for violating the Securities Act by manipulating the shares of Paramount Insurance.

Star all-rounder cricketer Shakib was elected Member of Parliament for Awami League from Magura-1 constituency in the National Parliament elections. He is an accused in a murder case filed at Adabar police station after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5.

Shakib Al Hasan is currently staying in the United States with his family.
