Trump’s new transportation secretary is Fox News host Sean Duffy
US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Wisconsin state representative and Fox Business News host Sean Duffy as his transportation secretary.
British news agency Reuters reported this information in a report on Tuesday (November 19).
According to the report, as Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy will be responsible for overseeing the United States’ aviation, automobile, rail, transit, and other transportation issues. In addition, Duffy will be responsible for the construction, updating and maintenance of all major infrastructure of the Trump administration.
In a statement announcing Duffy’s appointment as transportation secretary, Donald Trump said Duffy will prioritize excellence, competence, competitiveness and beauty in rebuilding highways, tunnels, bridges and airports across the United States.
He said Duffy has experience working with Democratic colleagues in Wisconsin on major road and bridge construction projects. The responsibility he has shown in financial matters is commendable.
After Trump’s announcement, Sean Duffy wrote to the American people in a post on social media X, I am very eager to take you to the golden age of the transportation sector.
The current Biden administration overhauled the Transportation Infrastructure Act in 2021 and budgeted at least $110 billion to build electric vehicle charging stations. But in the meantime, Biden has promised to change several policies of the administration in the transportation sector. Duffy will be at the center of this work.
According to analysts, the biggest challenge facing Duffy is to reduce the high rate of road accident deaths.
